Terms of Use
By accessing or using The State of BIPOC Cancer Survey ("Survey") operated by United Colors of Cancer ("UCC," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
Eligibility: This Survey is intended for individuals aged 18 years or older who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) and have personal experience with cancer as a patient, survivor, caregiver, or healthcare professional.
Purpose: The Survey collects anonymous data to understand the unique challenges faced by BIPOC communities in cancer care, inform health policy, and improve healthcare equity.
Voluntary Participation: Participation is entirely voluntary. You may skip questions or discontinue at any time without penalty.
Accuracy: By participating, you agree to provide truthful and accurate responses to the best of your knowledge.
No Medical Advice: This Survey does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis, please contact a healthcare provider or crisis hotline immediately.
Data License & Privacy
Data Ownership: All survey data, methodologies, derived metrics, and aggregated datasets are the exclusive property of United Colors of Cancer.
Anonymity: Survey responses are collected anonymously. We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or full addresses. ZIP codes are truncated to 3 digits for regional analysis only.
Data Use: Aggregated, de-identified data may be used for:
- Research publications and white papers
- Health policy advocacy and recommendations
- Educational materials and community outreach
- Internal quality improvement initiatives
Data Sharing: Individual-level data will never be sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. Aggregated statistics may be shared with academic researchers, policymakers, and healthcare organizations under data use agreements.
Data Retention: Survey data is retained securely for research purposes in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

Restrictions: No portion of this Survey, its content, methodology, or resulting data may be:
- Reproduced, copied, or duplicated in any form
- Used for research purposes without written permission
- Used for commercial or derivative purposes
- Modified, adapted, or translated
- Distributed or transmitted to third parties
- Used to create competing surveys or instruments
Permitted Use: Brief quotations from published UCC reports may be used for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution:

API & Scraping Restrictions
Automated Access Prohibited Without Authorization
Prohibited Activities: The following activities are strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from United Colors of Cancer:
- Web scraping, crawling, or automated data extraction
- Use of bots, spiders, or automated scripts
- Unauthorized API access or reverse engineering
- Systematic downloading of survey content or data
- Circumventing rate limits or access controls
- Harvesting or collecting user information
API Access: Authorized API access for research collaborations may be granted on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be submitted in writing and are subject to data use agreements and IRB approval where applicable.
Enforcement: Violations may result in immediate access termination, legal action, and reporting to relevant authorities. We actively monitor for unauthorized access attempts.
Security & Compliance
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect survey data, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL)
- Secure database storage with access controls
- Regular security audits and monitoring
- Minimal data collection principles
